About the Position:
The Dean of Students Office helps Titans reach higher by serving as an advocate for students, connecting them to appropriate university resources, and collaborating meaningfully with the campus community. We assist students in navigating the university and resolving educational, personal, and other concerns that impact the quality of their Titan experience. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Care Services Coordinators - College Liaisons (Student Services Professional III). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Under the general supervision of the Director of Care Services, the Care Services Coordinator - College Liaison provides non-clinical case management to students who experience academic, emotional, physical, or mental health-related distress and extends support intended to reduce distress and restore well-being. Case management services include, but are not limited to, responding to referrals, meeting with students, developing and coordinating interventions and referrals, and follow-up services. Works directly with students, staff, and faculty within their assigned academic colleges. Collaborates with campus resources and departments to support students and develop responses that consider the needs of individual students with the safety and welfare of the University community.
Plans, implements, and leads college-wide outreach, educational programs, and trainings that explore various forms of distress, appropriate interventions, resource referrals, and promote a community of care. Provides guidance to college stakeholders on appropriate support for students. Partners with campus departments on presentations that highlight a range of typical student issues, situations, trends, or incidents that may cause concern, and clarify when and how to refer students to appropriate University resources. Proficient with documentation processes and procedures along with electronic systems used by the University (i.e., Maxient). Assists with assessment efforts and data collection for assigned caseload. The Care Services Coordinator - College Liaison does not provide crisis, emergency or clinical therapeutic services. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution plus three years of professional student services work in the field. A masters degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work or a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience. A doctoral degree from an accredited college or university and the appropriate internship or clinical training in a relevant field may be substituted for three years of the required professional experience.
Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organize programs and activities. Ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the public. Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action. Ability to advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters. Ability to complete assignments without detailed instructions. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals. Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures, activities, and the overall organization.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
A cover letter is strongly recommended. Master's degree in higher education or related field from an accredited college or university. Masters degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Higher Education, or a directly related field. Working knowledge of the Maxient database system. Prior case management experience and working with students in distress on a college campus. Thorough knowledge of care services work within higher education settings including Behavioral Intervention Team support. Proven ability to identify problems, use sound judgment and reasoning to make crucial decisions. Demonstrated ability in managing difficult and complex situations involving students.
